2016 - A Big Year for the club

As the end of the year approaches, it's time to look back on what has been a great year for the club. Weve looked at the year's social media posts and newsletters and created this list of our favorite and most viewed stories from 2016, Just click each link to find out more on each story.

January"Meet the Academy” It was great to see the relaunch of our Academy programme for 2016, A good mixture of riders progressing from our Go-Ride sessions as well as other local riders previously from local clubs.

February"Getting into TT’s” Our top Photographer and dad to Laura and Morgan took up the challenge of time trailing, read his report on how he got into it the discipline.

March"Steve Marshal, South Regions Volunteer of the year” One of our biggest stories of the year on Social Media, Read all about Steve and how he has helped support the local Cycling community.

April"Krispin is National Champion” Krispin secures the clubs first Paracycling title, with Ollie pushing him all the way to take the silver for himself, an amazing achievement for both riders

May- "BCDS attack the Tracks” Our academy riders were in action at Velodromes across the M4 looking to qualify for the national finals and gain selection for Regional track teams later in the year. Check out the Video


June "Riders get the chance to shine on home turf” The BCDS youth riders were in action in the Heart of Bristol, Get to see the event such great support and another great opportunity for our riders, hopefully back in 2017 with even more of us taking part or out to support


July –"J’adore Le Tour” We went Tour crazy with competitions, special offers and even our "Where’s Wolley” competition as the nation went cycling crazy and we cheered home another British winner.


August –"Inspired by Rio” With the Olympic team training on our home track at Newport we organised a ride from Bristol to watch the team training, a great experience for our young members and something special to watch the team unofficially smash the world record in training. We knew Brad and the team would be bringing back Gold. We also ran a Summer of Cycling open race day for young riders where the young riders got to emulate Brad’s Podium pose.


September- "The Tour Came to Town” Another Amazing opportunity for our riders to get inspired as the world’s best pedalled into Bristol for an amazing 2 stages of racing in the city watching Wiggins race on the road for the very last time.


October "Morgan masters the Mendips” Morgan Curle is crowned the club hill climb champion with another great turnout from the club taking part and helping raise funds for the Raj Soni Memorial Legacy.


November –"Night Riders” The club ran the last of the years Weekly Night rider sessions with a great turn out each week, we can’t wait for it to warm up and get back outside on the circuit in Aztec West in the New year.


December"BCDS JNR RT” Great to see the club reform a Junior Race Team for 2017 in what promises to be a great year ahead.
