Go-Ride with BCDS

Bristol Cycling Development Squad (BCDS) have been part of British Cycling's national Youth Development programme its inception over 10 years ago, providing a fun and safe way to introduce young people to the world of cycle sport and provide the platform to improve bike handling skills.

BCDS have a small but dedicated team of officials & coaches who develop & deliver sessions aimed specifically at young riders of all ages & abilities who want to get in to the sport of cycling, be it as a total novice who's just had the stabilisers off through to a young rider who  wants to emulate their cycling heroes and become a more competent bike racer.
Coaching sessions take place in traffic free areas focusing on the key techniques and skills that will help riders across a wide range of cycling disciplines. The clubs current focus is to develop young people in the disciplines of Road & Track which can then feed into our Academy programme to further develop the talents of the future stars of the sport.

BCDS also use the Go-Ride Racing programme to introduce young people to competition, these entry level events are a great starting point to the sport for both riders and parents to give you an insight into the competitive side of cycling. Go-Ride racing events are open to all young riders with prizes and rewards for young people who take part in the events. Dates of our events will appear in the race calendar and on the British Cycling pages

The final strand of Go-Ride is the accreditation This is in effect a quality mark from both British Cycling & Sport England that the club has suitably trained officials, policy's and procedures in place to best support the development of young people. The club have obtained and maintained our clubmark status now for almost 10 years, and were one of the first cycling clubs in the  country in which to obtain the standard, something were incredibly proud of.
