Dan was one of the founding members of BCDS.
Back in 2003 when the club was formed & as a U23 rider I'd had enough of the lack of support young riders were receiving in breaking into the sport. Following my work with British Cycling's talent programme I could see the steps were in place to support young riders who know just needed a helping hand through structure, coaching & generally support if they wanted to succeed in there dream of getting a ride in a major team.
We then began setting up the club with a strong focus in introducing & developing the talents of young riders. With the support of Lottery funding & the support of other external partners an Academy was formed to bridge the gap between a total novice young rider to joining the British set up.
On a day to day basis I help young riders by providing members of the academy with fortnightly training, delivery of coaching sessions & helping to unearth the talent of tomorrow as well as providing young riders an enjoyable introduction to cycling through the delivery of sessions in schools.
