Become a #RaceMaker and Volunteer at the Junior Tour

As with any event that takes place if it weren't volunteers, there certainly wouldn't be any bike races! Could you help us by offering your time on the 7th & 8th of April by becoming part of our team of #RaceMakers

The Junior Tour is a massive undertaking by the club each year but we do it each year for one simple reason, to provide the areas young riders with an opportunity to race a National level event close to home. As is the case each year we are looking to recruit a number of volunteers to help make the event the success it has been each year.
There are a number of roles available, some require trained volunteers but many others don't require any formal training just a willingness to try to do your best.

We've outlined the roles below, If your able to help us with any of these tasks please complete the Google form below and we will be in contact.

  • Accredited Marshals - If your a trained Marshall we really need your services to help us deliver a safe race. We require a number of Marshals to help the race pass through the Mendip Hills, the routes take in a mixture of A & B class roads and on stage 2 some the Marshals may be required to move to another location once the race passes through. Please note that Cycle Races in the area require the Marshals to use the full size Lollipop style sign, it therefore would be impractical for marshals to undertake this role if coming by bike.

  • Route Marshals - These non trained officials will help to ensure the race remains on course by pointing the direction the riders need to take as well as providing a warning of any potential hazards etc. A guide to this role will be provided with detailed information of how to conduct the role on the day.

  • Drivers - We need a number of Vehicles & drivers to help on the race, this includes lead car drivers, neutral service cars and drivers for the race officials. In order to undertake this role you will need to be a British Cycling member, The named owner of the vehicle & use a vehicle suitable to be in a race convoy ideally this would be a hatchback or ideally estate car with a solid metal roof in order to attach magnetic roof signs and radios.

  • Gear Checkers & Sign on Clerks - Are important roles required to check riders bikes are within the required rules of the competition and that riders licences are in order. A Guide to the role will be provided ahead of the day and you will be assisted by other experienced club officials on the day. These roles require you to be at the headquarters prior to the arrival of the riders but your role will be complete before the start of the race itself.
All volunteers who support the event will be given the equipment required for the role, along with training and support on the day. We will also make sure your fed and watered as its the least we can do.
If you're able to help us with any of these roles please complete the form below. If you have any questions at all about the role and whats involved please contact us

Thank your for your support
