The Academy

Open to riders aged 12-16 (Youth A & B Cat for the 2016 season) within the club the academy can offer the loan of bikes & equipment which may act as a deterrent to a young person being able to get into competition.
Coaching support is offered in the form of personal coaching plans from our club coach along with access to a number of Closed coaching sessions to develop techniques, race skills and tactics.
The BCDS Academy programme is focussed around Road & Track cycling, therefore riders must be willing & partake in national level competition in both disciplines in order to to be part of the programme in line with the Great Britain Cycling Team Rider Pathway.
Riders on the Academy will be nominated to partake in Regional Schools of Racing delivered by GBCT foundation coaches at purpose built facilities across the UK. Riders will also be expected to attend monthly training sessions delivered by our own coaches as well as regular attendance on club runs and training sessions.
To be considered onto the programme riders are invited to apply via an application form by the 19th October 2015. Selected riders will then be invited to a selection day and interview before riders are selected to be part of the academy for the upcoming season.
